Penn is a multicultural institution, with students, faculty and staff from all over the world. This makes for a very diverse, vibrant community – and at times, a rather confusing one. The Division of Human Resources’ Talent Development team and the Penn Global’s International Student and Scholar Services (ISSS) are jointly facilitating to enhance communication in the cross-cultural workplace. We hope this session will help you bridge the cultural gap whether you are dealing with different nationalities, heritage, faith, sexual preference, health status, age, socioeconomic status, etc. The lunch program will be led by Dr. Rudie Altamirano (trained intercultural communication educator, cross-cultural conflict mediator, and Director of ISSS and Director of Immigration and Integration Services), Dr. Carla Thomas (diversity and inclusion expert and Senior Training and Development Consultant) and Mr. Bryant Kuehner (organizational behavior specialist and Training and Development Consultant).
Light lunch will be served. In an effort to reduce our environmental impact, we request that all attendees bring water in reusable bottles with them.
