Restorative Practices @ Penn (RP@P), in partnership with PPSA and WPPSA, and with support from staff across the University, will be hosting two Restorative Circle conversations for processing and building community for essential workers and other staff who have been on campus throughout the pandemic.
The return to campus-based activities for students, and for the rest of the staff and faculty has been a difficult one for many of us. It has involved navigating new campus dynamics, hybrid work structures and realities about our own health and safety and the health and safety of our loved ones. These past 18 months have been challenging for everyone in some way or another, and for some of us have involved serious loss, pain, and trauma. The return to a fully populated campus can carry with it much of the pain and struggle we have experienced over this time. The pandemic is not over, and we want to provide a space for all who have been here throughout the pandemic to come together and process, share, and reflect about what that means in this context.
Circle is a structured form of dialog intended to promote equity of voice and open sharing among all participants, rooted directly in dialog practices of various Indigenous peoples of North America. Participants speak one at a time in a set order and are encouraged to share openly. While not speaking, everyone is invited to listen deeply to what is being said. These are private conversations with the expectation of confidentiality – the purpose of the Circle is open sharing, processing, and mutual support.
These conversations will be held over Zoom. Please register using the links above.
