In service of the monthly paid staff community at the University of Pennsylvania, the Penn Professional Staff Assembly (PPSA) facilitates relevant workshops and programs, promotes University-wide initiatives, and organizes networking opportunities. PPSA members represent staff in the University Governance structure by service on all University Council Committees. With even greater impact, the PPSA Tri-Chairs serve on University Steering Committee, which meets regularly with the Faculty Senate Tri-chairs, University President, Provost and other representatives of key University constituencies. PPSA also continues to work collaboratively with Penn Weekly-Paid Professional Staff Assembly (WPPSA) on issues of mutual interest and engaging programming. PPSA Board Members work very hard to be informed and in the conversation on your behalf.
Each summer, PPSA holds its Annual Retreat with its Board members and Committee Representatives. After joint exercises, the PPSA Board holds an executive session to create the annual theme and list of programming, covering topics such as professional development, diversity and wellness. The programming year runs September through June with monthly events and other networking opportunities. A highlight of the year is the October Employee Resource Fair and Volunteer Service Fair that PPSA hosts with the support of the Office of the Executive Vice President and the Director of Human Resources.
We encourage all PPSA members to come out to our monthly Board meetings (posted on the Events calendar) and see how we put it all together. Our hope is to interest more members in volunteering to help out and to get involved. PPSA holds annual elections each May and looks forward to a variety of representation from across the University community.
If you have any questions, concerns or suggestions for PPSA to consider, please let us know.
